‘Cameo’

(H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery 02) Mini-sized.  H. 'Cameo' is the last in the series of variegated miniature hostas derived from 'Baby Bunting'. ‘Cameo’ is the reverse variegation pattern of 'Pandora's Box'. It has tiny round green leaves edged with a creamy-white margin. Tiny lavender flowers top the clump in early summer. Looks great in a trough or rock garden, in the shaded woodland garden.

‘Captain Kirk’

(Brill 99) Medium-sized, 18” high x 36”’ wide, sport of 'Gold Standard' has wide gold centre that turns ivory with dark green margins.  Nice contrast in colours.  Heavier substance than parent.  Lavender flowers in midsummer.  This hosta holds it colour all summer.

‘Carriage Wheels’

(Summers NR) Medium-sized, 16” high x 20” wide, gold centred, round leaves have an irregular solid blue-green margin.  Unusual colour pattern and heavy substance.

‘Cascades’

(W. & E. Lachman 93) Medium-sized.  This spectacular hosta forms an upright mound with the end of each leaf cascading downward. Pure white flowers top white flower stems providing perfect harmony to the landscape display. ‘Cat and Mouse’

(H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, Reg. Pending) Mini.  The thick leaves of this medio-variegated sport of 'Blue Mouse Ears' have a chartreuse interior circled by an uneven blue-green margin. Lighter shades of green appear where the two colors overlap. Small lavender flowers top the clump on perfectly proportioned scapes in midsummer. For borders, troughs, or rock gardens in light shade.

‘Cat's Eye’

(Terra Nova, NR) Mini The cute leaves of this Japanese hybrid are a creamy-white edged by a green margin. This Hosta venusta hybrid is perfect for the rock garden or combining into a trough garden. Tiny lavender flowers top the clump in early summer.

‘Cathedral Windows’

(Hansen) Large-sized, Sport of H. ‘Stained Glass’.  Vigorous grower with heart-shaped leaves that have a radiant golden centre between the very wide dark green border. ‘Chain Lightning’

‘Cherry Berry’

(Lachman 91) Medium-sized, 12” high x 22” wide, beautiful white centred hosta with a green margin.  Lance shaped leaves.  Light purple flowers in late July on red flower scapes that reach 32" in height.  Seed pods turn red.

‘Cherry Tart’

'Cherry Tomato'


(Walters Gardens) Mini.  This is the tetraploid form of H. ‘Cherry Berry’ that stays small, grows well and has good substance. Long lance-shaped leaves have a creamy white centre surrounded by dark green borders and are topped with dark lavender flowers in July. Great addition to your mini collection.

'Choo Choo Train'

(T. Sears, 1999) Large-sized. 2’ high x 6’ wide. 'Choo Choo Train' features thick gold leaves that are wonderfully ruffled and in time will form a majestic clump. Near white flowers are produced in summer.

(Zilis) Medium-sized.  14” high x 30” wide.  White centre with dark green margin.  Sport of ‘Night before Christmas’.  Good substance with medium growth rate.

'Cinnamon Sticks'

(R Herold NR) Medium-sized.   Upright hosta with round, glaucous, green leaves with white backs, heavily substance, and stay green well into fall.  Lavender flowers in September.  Cinnamon red petioles.   Used for breeding red petioles.  Only a few this year.

(Solberg 2007) Small-sized. 6” high X 14” wide.   This little yellow hosta has heart-shaped leaves that are frosted with lots of white wax in spring, making it rich and creamy. Top that off with bright purple petioles that extend up into the leaf. Well proportioned, frosted yellow scapes in July-August with pretty orchid-coloured flowers.

'Cranberry Wine'


NEW

(Sisson) Small-medium sized. H. ‘Cranberry Wine’ is a seedling from ‘Cinnamon Sticks’ x ‘Tequila Sunrise’ that has bright yellow leaves that become chartreuse. Pointed leaves are shiny, very wavy and have wonderful substance. The petioles become cranberry-coloured as the season progresses. Purple flowers appear late in the season on top of dark cranberry scapes.

 

Kathy Sisson is a new hybridizer and is producing some great work! We will be carrying more of her plants in the future.

'Crumb Cake'

(Solberg 2008)  Small-sized. 4" high X 12" wide.  This rapidly growing hosta makes a very tight flat mound of honey-gold round leaves with mahogany petioles that are shiny, wonderfully wavy, and have very good substance. Its mahogany scapes have pretty lavender flowers in July.  Try this in a trough garden!

'Curly Fries'

(Solberg 2008) 'Pineapple Upsidedown Cake'seedling) - Small.(5" X 16" Just look at the photo. I will add that the agave-looking leaves are stiff as a board and you can see that our award winning 'Curly Fries' is the most unique hosta to be introduced in some time. Best grown in half a day of sun, its highly ruffled narrow leaves emerge yellow and then fade to near white. The scape is deep purple, topped with lavender flowers. It makes a great container plant or grows very well in the garden.
